Hi, I'm Ollie, I am your driving instructor, I've been tutored 100s of people over 15 years, giving me second to none understanding of how to get you driving safely and confidently. We understand that planning to book your first driving lesson is a very nerve wracking experience. Here are some of the most common questions our students ask us - click each question for the answer:

1Do I need to take my Theory Test before I start driving lessons?

In short no, but to be best prepared for driving and to get the most out of your driving lessons it's very useful to be in the process of revision, ready for your Theory Test. You will make much greater progress in the early stages because you will already have a strong knowledge base to work from.

2How many driving lessons do I need?

Many factors such as length of lessons, regularity and even the time of day can affect how many lessons a student will take to pass, not to mention college work and work commitments. However, the DSA (Driving Standards Agency) recommend 45 hours with a driving instructor and 22 hours with parents. We find on average our students pass in around 35-45 hours in total.

3I am very nervous about driving, do you specialise in this?

You're not alone, almost every student we teach is in someway nervous about the prospect of driving. It’s a large and somewhat scary hurdle to cross but with professional tuition and bespoke lessons all starting in roads to match your level of experience, the nerves are often short lived and soon replaced with a more confident outlook.

4Do I always have to start my driving lessons from home?

Of course not. By its very nature, having a car means you could be anywhere so we start our driving lessons at colleges, work places and from peoples homes. It makes sense to get tuition in a wide number of environments, thus building confidence for when you get your full licence.

5Do i need to pay for a 10+ lessons up front to get my discount?

No, of course not unlike most driving schools we are so sure that you will enjoy learning with Totally Driving that we offer our complete discount off the 1st hour. This means you won't have to pay for 10/15 hours upfront to receive a discount and you won't be fixed in to a driving school before trying it out.

6Can i choose how long my lessons are?

Unlike some driving schools, we do not fix you to only 2hour lessons. Although 2hour lessons are often the most productive and cost affective we completely understand this doesn't fit with everyone, so driving lessons are available in 1hour 1hour30 & 2hour slots.

7Paying Up Front - Ive been asked to pay up front before taking a driving lesson, should i?

Absolutely not, no reputable driving school will ask you to pay "up front" before taking a driving lesson. One or two schools have to offer discounts that require you to pay loads up front before you have even sat in the car but you have to ask why is this and if it's to lock a student in financially. With Totally Driving, you get you total discount on the first lesson, if you don't like it, your not trapped and can walk away. Although thankfully, we find our students stay.
